- Between the 1960 and 1990 higher education in Brittan was free.
- In 1998 tuition fees were reintroduced at 1000 pounds a year.
- In 2004 the tuition fees were raised to 3000 pounds still regarded as ‘’top-up’’ fees
supplementing the states direct grants to unis. - After the 2010 election, university finance got changed as student fees got raised to 9000
